Five Gifts For Lawyers

The two-thirds of the Above The Law team in New York report that it’s starting to look and feel a lot like Christmas in the Northeast. Some of those reports are overly graphic. The one-third of the team spending the holiday in Florida attests to warmth and sunshine.
This post is dedicated to the loved ones in your life, who want last minute shopping advice. For many lawyerly types, a new job would be the best gift of all, but that’s hard to wrap. Though not impossible.
We’ve got five easier gifts to give, after the jump.

Here are five possible gifts for lawyers. Feel free to make additional suggestions in the comments.
1. SCOTUS bling: One First Street inspires joy in the hearts of attorneys everywhere. Possible SCOTUS-themed gifts include a visual history poster, Supreme Court Justice trading cards and bobbleheads. The last two are not easy to find, and may require some serious Ebaying or a contact at The Green Bag.
2. Ford County: Do Biglaw types have hours for novels? One of John Grisham’s short stories might be appropriately brief.
3. Laptop bag: A suggestion from Elie: “a briefcase that fits a laptop but is leather and classy, not some kind of hipster tote bag.” We advise checking out the airport security-friendly models.
4. A session with a rainmaker counselor: Help a Biglaw associate become a rainmaker. There are consultants for that.
5. A massage: Biglaw types are stressed. Give your loved one a gift certificate for a massage at a spa. And since they rarely see natural light, you could throw in a tanning session too.
Find other kitschier possibilities, like a legal-themed wine stopper and a disappearing civil liberties mug, here.
From the editors at Above The Law, happy holidays to you. And if you’re still looking for gifts for non-legal types, think about giving them law school in a box.
