Some summer associates are ending their summers on a very positive note. Quite a few firms have already informed law school students that after this summer fling, they’re interested in a more serious relationship.
Since our last round-up of offices extending offers to 100% of their summer associates, we’ve heard from a few more contented summers…
Summer associates in Quinn Emanuel’s L.A. office got good news early this week:
Quinn LA made offers to all of its summers Monday morning. They called each of us up to Bill Urquhart’s office individually to give us the good news. The offers were unexpected because we had been told that we probably would not hear until sometime next week, and we don’t finish until Friday. We went out for drinks together to celebrate after work. When we tried to pay, we found out that the firm had quietly taken care of our tab. Needless to say, we are all very excited.
We have not heard yet about Quinn’s New York office, so we don’t know how Hansel & Gretel fared.
O’Melveny & Myers NYC office gave 100% offers to their 9 summer associates.
Stroock & Stroock summers in New York also struck gold:
Stroock hired all 16 of its New York summers on Thursday. They told us each individually, followed by a celebratory reception where the news was announced to the firm community. Good times.
Meanwhile, we’re told Chadbourne NYC no-offered just one out of their class of 15.
We hear that all the Dewey LeBeoufs in the Big Apple and in the nation’s capital got offers, and that most others will be getting similar news:
[Dewey executive director] Steve DiCarmine announced a week and a half ago that, among the DC, NY, Chicago, and Silicon Valley offices, only one summer was “questionable” in terms of the firm’s plans to give offers.
This sounds like a summer associate story. If you know about the conduct of the “questionable” SA, please email us (subject line: “Dewey Summer Associate”).
And good news from the Lone Star state, even if this summer associate class wasn’t Texas-sized:
Heard Jackson Walker Dallas offered 100% today… From what I heard there were 5 Summers.
fyi – latham gave 100% offers (all summers, all offices)
They wisely did not block off conference rooms to share the news.
