Lawyerly Lairs: Three Partners' Palatial Pads

Meet Michael Bassett, a corporate partner in the New York office of Linklaters (a member of the Magic Circle — a term we will never tire of using). Together with his non-Linklaters partner, Darren Henault, and their two adorable daughters, he lives in a magnificent prewar apartment on the Upper East Side — on Fifth Avenue, of course.

(Bassett and Henault moved to the UES after selling their Soho loft earlier this year, for $2.8 million — to actor/director Griffin Dunne and his Australian wife, Anna Bingemann. It’s not clear how much the gents paid for their new home.)

Michael Bassett’s apartment was recently featured in New York Magazine, which notes that it “was built in the late 1800s and maintains its original mahogany paneling.” The interior is extravagantly decorated — which shouldn’t be a surprise, since his hubby Henault is a successful interior designer. Henault’s work has appeared in such publications as Elle Decor, House & Garden, and the Wall Street Journal.

As for Henault’s own home, it’s something of a “love it or hate it” interior. Over at Curbed, 31 percent of readers declared it “Gorgeous,” while 32 percent dubbed it “Grosstastic.”

Personally I lean towards “Gorgeous.” Above the Law readers, you can judge for yourselves….
