Will the Great Blizzard of 2010 Lead to a Storm of Lawsuits?

5. Lawsuits against the Bush Administration for failing to regulate greenhouse gases, causing the climate change that led directly to the blizzard.

C’mon, people — this is New York City. When in doubt, blame the Bush Administration.

(This theory was suggested to us by one of our super-liberal friends here in the Big Apple. We think he was being tongue-in-cheek, but we’re not sure.)

One might try to argue that global warming should involve, well, warming. But that would be simple-minded. Just a day or two before the blizzard, an op-ed appeared in the hallowed pages of the New York Times, arguing that “extraordinarily snowy and cold winters” are also the result of man-made climate change.

So there you go: just a few possible ways in which this week’s epic snow storm might lead to litigation. But we’re not plaintiff’s lawyers, so we’re sure we’ve missed many other possibilities.
