Moshe Gerstein

The nauseating story of Moshe Gerstein has come to an abrupt end. Gerstein, who had been accused of possessing violent child pornography, has been found dead.

The allegations against Gerstein — who worked at Gibson Dunn and Skadden — were particularly disturbing. Gerstein was accused of stockpiling thousands of images of brutal child porn.

But he pleaded not guilty and was due to appear in court yesterday.

Instead, his obituary ran in The Republican today.

That obit is light on details, but an Above the Law source has attempted to shed some more light on the situation…

Here is part of the Gerstein obituary:

Moshe Gerstein 1976-2011 NEW YORK- Moshe Gerstein passed away on June 16th. He was a graduate of Heritage Academy and Longmeadow High School. He graduated magna cum laude in mathematics and computer science from Yale University, and graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School. Moshe worked for ten years as a corporate lawyer in New York City. Moshe leaves his beloved wife Jennifer Jackson, his parents, Dr. Alan and Bette Gerstein of Longmeadow, his brother and sister-in-law, Meir and Shimrit Gerstein of Brooklyn, his brother David, of Stratford, CT, and his in-laws, Yvette and Ronald Jackson of Pennsylvania.

An Above the Law source has been following this story since Gerstein’s death on the 16th. That source tells us that Gerstein was actually found dead in Mexico City, Mexico. Our source couldn’t say why Gerstein was in Mexico.

That report is unconfirmed, and the Manhattan D.A.’s office told us they were unaware of his death. We also reached out to Gibson Dunn, but they did not return a request for comment.

We will keep you posted if additional details surface.
