Breaking: Casey Anthony Verdict
In case you've been living under a rock, Casey Anthony was acquitted of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, and aggravated manslaughter of a child. Nancy Grace didn't just have a cow -- instead, she gave birth to an entire herd.
Television news sources are reporting that Casey Anthony has been found not guilty of first degree murder, aggravated child abuse, or aggravated manslaughter of a child.
Casey Anthony was found guilty of four counts of providing false information to law enforcement officers.
HLN, the news channel that has been covering this trial since it started, all day, every day, is having a freakin’ field day. Mothers all over the country are ripping their hair out of their heads. Nancy Grace didn’t just have a cow — she gave birth to an entire herd.
Are Small Firms Going Big On Legal Tech?
Is Jose Baez, Casey Anthony’s lawyer, the Latino Johnnie Cochran? Either way, he’s looking forward to many, many incoming client calls.
As I noted in today’s Morning Docket, Casey would’ve gotten some first degree murder for breakfast from me. Instead, all she got was a few slaps on the wrist.
Will we ever find out what really happened to Caylee Anthony? Sadly, I don’t think the answer to that question is yes.
We will continue to provide relevant updates to this post throughout the day as they arise. Refresh this post for the latest.

UPDATE (2:45 PM): Jose Baez says that there were no winners in this case, because Caylee Anthony has passed on, and we will never know how or why. Um, I think we all might have a small inkling about the how and why here. Baez also stood up on a soap box to tell the American people the following:
This case is a perfect example of why the death penalty doesn’t work. Murder isn’t right, no matter who does it. It’s disgusting. We need to stop trying to kill our people. When I go home and my daughter asks me, “What’d you do today?” I can say, “I saved a life.”
UPDATE (3:14 PM): At the moment, no jurors are interested in speaking to any members of the media. Judge Perry will not release the names of the jurors at this time. The alternates have not yet been asked if they are interested in speaking to the press.
UPDATE (3:33 PM): Fox News reports that since Casey Anthony has already served almost three years in prison, she may be out of jail in less than a year for providing false information to law enforcement officers.
UPDATE (3:47PM): Sheriff Jerry Demings has asked that the public continue to “peacefully acknowledge” the verdict that has been rendered (read: please, no mobs or violence outside of the Anthony home).
UPDATE (3:50PM): During the prosecution’s press briefing, elected county prosecutor Lawson Lamar remarked that he believed the trial team for the Casey Anthony case was “world class.” Lamar went on to say that the prosecution was disappointed with the verdict, because they “know the facts.” Maybe if those facts were presented a bit differently to the jury (or at all), the verdict would have been more favorable to the prosecution.
