ATL Summer Associate Event Contest: Which Firm Had the Best Event of 2011?

With the high offer rates we've seen, we have to assume that there was enough money to go around for firms to host some excellent events, right? Well, now that you've got your offer in hand (hopefully), you can spill the beans on what went down at your firm this summer....

Just about all summer associate programs at large law firms have wrapped up by now, and 100 percent offer rates rolled in from firms across the country. That’s great news, but we were more than a little disappointed that we didn’t hear any lurid tales of summer associates gone bad this year.

Sadly, we didn’t hear about any fabulous summer associate events, either. With the high offer rates we’ve seen, we have to assume that there was enough money to go around for firms to host some excellent events, right?

Well, now that you’ve got your offer in hand (hopefully), you can spill the beans on what went down at your firm this summer….

Seriously. We will keep you anonymous, and you’ll still be able to brag about the splendor of being a summer associate at a Biglaw firm.

Last year, there were five finalists: Davis Polk & Wardwell, Irell & Manella, Paul Hastings, Quinn Emanuel, and Schulte Roth & Zabel.

In the end, Irell & Manella took home the prize for the best summer associate event of 2010, with its firm-sponsored weekend trip to Catalina Island off the southern California coast. Not as cool as the F*cking Catalina Wine Mixer, but still pretty awesome.

And as an added bonus, if any of your fellow SAs behaved badly at these firm events, we want to hear about it. Thus far, we’ve only heard rumors about a Quinn Emanuel summer who may have dipped his pen in the company ink and still got an offer. There have to be some sinners among 2011’s class of summer associate saints.

So, do you think that one of your firm’s events topped Irell’s Catalina getaway? If so, send us your submission for the Best Summer Associate Event of 2011 by email or in the comments. Please identify the firm and office hosting the event and provide a brief description of what made it so awesome. Thanks!
