Lawyerly Lairs: Cravath Cribs (Part 2)(Partner parts with Park Avenue property.)

Let's take a look at the Carnegie Hill neighborhood of the Upper East Side, where a Cravath partner recently sold his ultra-luxurious residence -- for a whopping $4.6 million. Interestingly enough, the buyer is a lawyer as well, in-house counsel at a major media company. Who are the parties to this transaction? And what does a $4.6 million apartment look like?

Here’s the floorplan. The apartment boasts ample square footage, but the layout is awkward:

The master bedroom is next to the living room, one bedroom opens out to the foyer, and another bedroom is sandwiched between the dining room and the breakfast nook (although, in fairness, that’s clearly the maid’s room). Like some prewar apartments, it feels like a dense warren of separate rooms, as opposed to gracious spaces that flow into each other.

Now it’s time for the promised poll about interior decor….
