Quote of the Day: The Lady Doth Protest Too Much

Another day, another protest at UC Berkeley. What are they going on about now?

John Yoo teaching constitutional law to the next generation of lawyers and judges is a perverse mockery of what a law school education should be.

Stephanie Tang, a spokesperson for the Bay Area chapter of World Can’t Wait, commenting on the anti-war group’s reasons for protesting Yoo’s continued employment by the law school this morning outside Boalt Hall’s commencement ceremony.

(See what Yoo had to say about today’s protest, after the jump.)

Professor John Yoo, the internationally famous (or infamous) author of the so-called “torture memos,” has taken a lot of flak for his conservative notions. As we noted in Non-Sequiturs last week, Yoo was recently exonerated by the Ninth Circuit of any liability for his alleged authorization of “illegal” interrogation methods.

The Daily Californian reached out to Yoo for his thoughts on today’s protest, and as always, he seems to be taking it in stride:

“(E)veryone needs a hobby,” Yoo said in an email. “For denizens of Berkeley, protesting makes for a neat distraction from working.”

And this is why we simply can’t get enough of Yoo. Congratulations to the Boalt Hall Class of 2012 — try not to let the protesters ruin your special day, because Yoo’s not letting them ruin his.

(If you’d like to hear more from Yoo, you can read his online writings and listen to his podcasts over at Ricochet.)
