Poker Player With Full House of Designer Shoes Gets Sued By Ex-Husband Over Her $1M Collection

For some women, designer shoes are like works of fine art. With soles that can warm any fashionista’s soul, designer shoes are things to be cherished, nay, worshipped. And if you’re wise, you already know better than to mess with a woman’s shoe collection — especially a woman whose million-dollar shoe fetish inspired her to brand her groin area with a red-soled Louboutin tattoo. But unfortunately, some men still haven’t gotten the memo.

In a hand that professional poker player Beth Shak probably wishes she hadn’t been dealt, her ex-husband has decided to go all in with claims made in a new lawsuit against her. Hedge fund manager Daniel Shak, of SHK Asset Management, isn’t hedging his bets when it comes to allegations that his ex-wife hid a costly collection of designer assets in a “secret room,” thereby shielding her from forking over the big bucks in their divorce settlement.

What does this pretty poker player’s ex-husband seek, and just how many pairs of shoes does Beth Shak own?

Beth, of World Series of Poker fame, is also known as one of the world’s “top footwear aficionados.” Her extensive collection — 1,200 pairs strong — has been featured on MTV’s “Cribs” and in “God Save My Shoes,” a documentary. With over 700 pairs of Louboutins and 500 pairs of YSLs, Manolos, Lanvins, and Jimmy Choos, it seems that her love for designer shoes borders almost on obsession.

In his suit, Daniel Shak claims that he had no knowledge of his ex-wife’s luxurious stronghold of designer shoes. Now that he’s found out about it, he wants a 35 percent cut of what he estimates is a $1 million collection. From the New York Post:

“In the summer of 2011, Daniel became aware that Beth owned and failed to disclose an extensive . . . collection of Christian Louboutin shoes . . . and other high-end designer shoes and bags,” his suit says.

“Dan trusted his wife and was not inspecting his home to try to find inventory or ‘secret rooms.’ ”

He’s asking a court near their old family home in suburban Philadelphia for an accounting of her shoes, a source said.

Seriously? He wants “an accounting of her shoes”? What kind of a husband wouldn’t realize that his wife was hoarding more than a thousand pairs of shoes? Beth agreed, noting in an interview with Good Morning America, “How could I possibly hide these things? It would be ludicrous, it would be insane. I had a beautiful closet where my things were displayed.”
