Facebook Hypo of the Day: It's Crunch Time For Bar Review And People Are Starting To Crack

Batbrained bar exam hypo...

Hey, are you studying for the Bar Exam right now? BOO! Mwahaha. Just kidding. Look, if it makes you feel any better, your fate is probably already sealed. You’ve probably already done enough to pass this test next week, or when the results come back you’re going to be one of those people who makes ridiculous excuses for your poor performance.

So I’d spend most of this weekend just trying to get your head right, instead of trying cram in just a little more criminal procedure.

Of course, nobody actually taking the bar next week is going to listen to that advice. I tried to comfort a friend named Fred about the upcoming exam and he said: “I can’t recall the taste of food, nor the sound of water, nor the touch of grass. I’m… naked in the dark, with nothing, no veil between me and the wheel of fire! I can see him with my waking eyes.”

Letting your mind mix with the movies is not unusual at this stage of bar preparation. One kid really put his heart into it: not into studying exactly, but into coming up with an awesome Batman inspired hypo that he posted on Facebook…

[Ed Note: this hypo has nothing to do with horrible and tragic shootings in Colorado over the night. This was written long before the shootings, and if anything it’s drawn from the universe of the Batman cartoon series (which is also the Batman familiar to people who played through the Batman: Arkham City video game), not the Dark Knight.]

Let’s jump towards the end of this massive hypo, because while it’s pretty epic and funny, there’s one part of this that suggests the poster needs to focus-up before taking the bar:

Dude, it’s an essay question? Your head is still in essay land? Let me say to you and all who will take the bar next week: THE ESSAYS DON’T MATTER. Most of them are graded on the amount of words you use, not the content of your logic. This is not law school, the bar is a MULTIPLE CHOICE TEST. Any time you spend practicing essays is time you spend NOT really studying for the bar.

Other than that, no concerns. Really, check out the full hypo on the next page.

Okay, one more piece of advice (from a guy who EASILY passed the New York Bar): whenever the question says “so and so NEGLIGENTLY did so and so,” the right multiple choice answer is ALWAYS the one that blames the negligent so and so. You see, the examiner has told you the right legal conclusion directly in the question, and used the rest of the words to confuse you. HTH.
