The Best Law Firm Offices in America: The Finalists!

Here are the finalists for our contest to find the Best Law Firm Offices in America.

As regular readers of Lawyerly Lairs know well, some attorneys have beautiful — and expensive — homes. As we’ve just learned from the impressive submissions in our contest to find the best law firm offices in America, many attorneys’ workplaces are no less spectacular.

With the help of Mary Kate Sullivan, our wonderful intern here at Above the Law, I’ve winnowed the large and impressive field to eight finalists. There’s nice diversity here, in terms of firms (Biglaw versus non-Biglaw); decor (traditional versus modern); and geography (seven different cities, located all over the country).

Let’s check them out, shall we?

Here are the eight finalists, in alphabetical order, with short blurbs and photographs for each. The poll appears at the very end of this post.

(If you nominated a firm but don’t see it listed here, please note that it might show up on our honorable mention list, which we’ll release next week.)

1. 1-800-LAW-FIRM: To be technical, 1-800-LAW-FIRM is not a firm but “a national network of the country’s top legal experts.” Here’s what the network had to say in support of its nomination:

Our headquarters in Southfield, Michigan is designed for interaction and collaboration. The work space reflects our forward-thinking, out-of the box approach. Instead of a hallway, we have a walking track where you can stretch your legs or have “walking meetings” with your colleagues. We have meeting rooms of all sizes — from boardroom to round three-seat spaces we call “resolution rooms.”

Here’s the walking track (as with all of the images in this post, click to enlarge):

This photo shows the rounded “resolution rooms”:

Back to the firm:

We’re all about energy. Our fully equipped lunchroom is a hub of activity and there’s always something happening in our video production room. We also offer an exercise room and shower so you can fit that workout into your busy schedule. The environment is a constant reminder that you’re part of something new, unique and exciting.

Here’s the lunchroom — which is impressive! It looks a little like a television studio for a high-end cooking show (again, click to enlarge):

And here is the exercise room (which is less impressive, but still — not many law firms have exercise rooms at all):

Private offices look like this:

What is the philosophy behind the firm’s offices?

“Movement is a motivator,” said Ari Kresch, Founder and CEO of 1-800-LAW-FIRM. “We wanted an environment that kept our team energized, healthy, productive, creative and connected, and a space that visitors were eager to spend time in.”

Now, on to our next contestant….
