Infographic of the Day: Which Country Has the Highest Paid Lawyers?

How much do American lawyers get paid compared to lawyers in other parts of the world?

Everyone knows lawyers make mad bank. That’s why you become a lawyer, right? Or, maybe they don’t always get super rich, but they usually do. Wait… lawyers used to always get super wealthy, but now not so much.

Dammit, now I’m all turned around. Point is, however much attorneys make in the U.S., how does it compare to lawyers across the rest of the world? Without further ado, check out our Infographic of the Day….

This illustration comes to us courtesy of LLM Info. The chart cross-references salary with estimated cost of living, and it is fairly easy to grasp. (We’ve pulled out some highlights at the bottom.) Click to enlarge:

As you probably noticed, China is at the top here, which is fascinating. The U.S. is also behind France and Germany, even though both countries have a higher cost of living than the U.S. Luckily, American lawyers can still claim the totally meaningless title of living in the most lucrative English-speaking country.

As a side note, under the cost of living section, how in the world did they come up with 75 bucks as the average cost of a meal for two, even in New York City? Is this to suggest most lawyers don’t subsist on cheesesteaks and burritos? Dang, maybe I need a new line of work….
