The Best Law Firm Offices in America: Honorable Mentions

There's still time to vote in our Lawyerly Lairs contest to find the best law firm offices in America. In the meantime, check out the four firms that made our "Honorable Mention" list.

2. Durie Tangri: We’ll yield the floor to the lawyer at the firm who submitted this excellent nomination blurb:

Durie Tangri is a small litigation boutique (mostly IP) in San Francisco. I will let Interior Design magazine provide both the requisite photos and brief explanation of why our office is a worthy contender. From the Nov. 2010 edition: http://www.interiordesign.net/article/533387-Hot_Property.php….

[H]ere is my personal explanation of why our offices are the best: They just are. Look at them. They are both cool, easy on the eyes, and very functional. From the full-wall white boards to the inviting common area bordered by personal offices, the space practically compels collaboration and interaction. (It also helps that we like working with each other.)

You don’t have to take the tipster’s word for it. The proof is in the pudding (or, as an editor friend of mine recently emphasized to me, “the proof of the pudding is in the eating”).

Check out the photos. Here’s the funky lobby. It’s a bit unfinished for my taste, but that’s clearly a deliberate choice (click to enlarge):

This conference room looks much better:

The individual offices are well-designed and inviting:

And no law office would be complete without a coffee maker to provide caffeinated fuel for long nights:

In terms of the contest, we put Durie Tangri in the same “hipster law firm” bracket as Edelson McGuire, and we went with Edelson (mainly for the “fun factor” — the ping pong table, the Wii, the Rock Band room, etc.). But it was a tough call, and Durie Tangri deserves commendation for its coolness.

For our third honorable mention, let’s play a visit to Sin City….
