The Best Law Firm Offices in America: Honorable Mentions

There's still time to vote in our Lawyerly Lairs contest to find the best law firm offices in America. In the meantime, check out the four firms that made our "Honorable Mention" list.

4. Laxton Law: Delona Laxton is a solo practitioner in Kingwood, Texas. Here’s how she describes her offices:

This law office is awesome; it makes people feel good! It draws your attention as soon as you drive past and see the lime green glow. You will have a smile on your face the minute you open the door! The open concept is inviting and warm; clients feel comfortable the instant they walk in. This office is overflowing with the personalty of the solo attorney that created the space. Many people who pass cup their hands and peer through the windows to see what is inside! This is my office and I am very proud of it. I have clients who see bring to me their old cameras to add to my collection. Other clients see my colors on various things when they are out shopping; they think of me, buy it and bring it in.

Her enthusiasm is infectious. In the words of Mary Kate, “It’s done in very bright colors…. It’s very different from the bigger firms, but unique in its own way.”

Definitely unique. Check out the pictures (click to enlarge):

Such bright colors wouldn’t fly in Biglaw. But for a solo practitioner in Texas, it’s important to stand out.

We put Laxton Law in the same “quirky / funky” category as Fish & Richardson, which overwhelmed us with its superheroes. But props to Laxton Law for daring to be different.

So there you have them: the four honorable mentions in our first-ever Lawyerly Lairs contest. Although they didn’t make the finals, they deserve great praise for their beauty, creativity, functionality, and fun.

UPDATE (9/7/2012): Not an actual honorable mention, but cute. From the comments: “I submitted the attached image on behalf of virtual law firms everywhere. Not even an honorable mention. I guess Brian Tannebaum was on the selection committee.”
