Lawyerly Lairs: A Tale of Two Apartments

Here are two New York City apartments, both priced between $1 million and $2 million. Which would you rather purchase?

Here’s a bit about the unit, from the Observer:

There are newly refinished “maplewood” floors (is maplewood the same thing as maple?), a windowed kitchen with familiar upscale brands like Sub-Zero, Viking and Bosch and a master bedroom suite with an “enormous walk-thru closet” and large “sit-in steam shower,” according to the listing, held by Brown Harris Stevens broker Jenny Park Adam. Best of all, it’s right across from Zabars, the listing brags.

The listing — no longer online, but here’s an excerpt — described the apartment as “sun-flooded,” the same adjective used to describe the 88 Greenwich Street place. But even though they’re both two-bedroom, two-bath condominiums, the 223 West 80th Street apartment has some features that 88 Greenwich Street lacks, including a balcony and a fireplace. The 223 West 80th Street unit is also a bit bigger, boasting a little over 1,500 square feet (compared to the 1,200 square feet at 88 Greenwich).

Here is the living room, which is also on a corner:

And the kitchen (not a galley-style kitchen, which is nice):

The dining area is spacious:

Let’s look at the floor plan for 223 West 80th Street, and then vote….
