Lawyerly Lairs: Two Kitchens, One Couple(Or: An actress turned lawyer's uptown abode.)

An actress from an iconic film of the 1990s went to law school, got married, and had a family. They recently moved to a Harlem townhouse. Let's have a look-see....

It’s a freshly renovated townhouse in south Harlem. From looking at it, you’d have no idea that it sat abandoned for a decade:

And it’s located on a lovely, tree-lined street (click to enlarge):

The family paid $1.7 million for the house, down from the original asking price of $1.95 million. Snagging a house on the island of Manhattan for under $2 million is no small feat. The taxes, at $130 a month, are low. And the amount of space is wonderful:

Now, with more than 3,000 square feet — plus a roof deck, a backyard and a stoop — the family have more than doubled their living space. Dr. Marion got a dining room, and there is plenty of room for guests. Their dog, Ringo, a Rhodesian Ridgeback, was alarmed by the stairs at first, and the girls were reluctant to be uprooted. But now they are thrilled to have separate bedrooms.

Three thousand square feet, a backyard, and a bedroom for each child? This might not impress down in Texas — please throw in the keys to a Lexus — but in New York City, it’s positively #onepercent.

Let’s take a look around, shall we?
