New York Bar Exam Results Are Out; Congratulations To Everyone Who Passed!

The results of the July 2012 New York bar exam have been released early. Congratulations to all passers!

Well, isn’t this a nice surprise! The results of the July 2012 administration of the New York bar exam have been released — ahead of schedule, as it turns out. And this time it appears to be an intentional rather than accidental release.

The New York State Board of Law Examiners previously stated that it would announce the results tomorrow, Friday, November 2. But NY BOLE went ahead and made results available to applicants tonight, at around 10 p.m. or so.

Keep reading, for a link to the results page and commentary from Above the Law readers….

You can access the bar exam results through the NY BOLE website, which explains:

An email containing the results of the July 2012 New York State bar examination has been sent to all July 2012 New York State bar candidates. A private look-up is also available by clicking the link below…. A list of the candidates who passed the examination will be made available to the general public on Monday, November 5, 2012.

In other words, if you want to engage in the schadenfreude of seeing which frenemies of yours failed, you’ll have to wait a few days.

Here are a few reactions from Above the Law readers who contacted us with the news. From a reader whose fiancé passed the bar exam:

Best news to receive in a blackout ever!

Husband passed = marital happiness preserved! Next (dream) step: He finds an actual, paying job as an attorney. 🙂

Now if I could just find some scotch amongst our hurricane provisions to toast his good news in style…

This comment captures what it’s like to hear the good news in the age of social media:

I’m obviously very relieved. Bar prep was pretty much as much of a pain as everyone said it would be, so it’s nice to know I won’t have to do it again. And since half of my Facebook friends are law school classmates, my feed has been blowing up for the past half hour with “PASSED!” statuses and lots of congratulations. Fun times.

And this was the most succinct response we received:

I’m glad I never have to go back to Albany.

Well, until you’re elected governor. Many an illustrious legal and political career has started with admission to the New York State Bar.

Once again, congratulations from all of us here at Above the Law to everyone who passed. Feel free to celebrate your good news in the comments.
