You know what they say, you never see it coming.
There is a bizarre story developing on the streets of New York. A law student walked out of a hotel in broad daylight in midtown Manhattan and was murdered by a silent assassin who then, coldly, got into a getaway car that politely stopped at a red light overlooking the body.
I’m going to go on and assume that this homicide didn’t happen because of outstanding law school debts. Or maybe that’s just what I want to believe….
The cops are calling the murder of Brandon Lincoln Woodard a “hit.” From the New York Post:
“There was no rush,” NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said of Woodard’s killer. “He just walked up, shot him and walked away.”
A police source said the shooting was “definitely a hit, an assassination.”
Investigators are probing a possible connection to drug dealing.
Our tipster tells us that Woodard was a student at Whittier Law School in California. One wonders exactly what standards, if any, Whittier has for admission. Our tipster describes Woodard’s rap sheet as “illustrious.” From the Post again:
Woodard was charged with cocaine possession in California last June and has prior arrests for robbery, petty theft and leaving the scene of an accident.
Police are also exploring to what extent Woodard — who once claimed he was roughed up by bodyguards working for R&B superstar Usher — had ties to the music industry, law-enforcement sources said.
Between getting mixed up with drugs, Usher, and Whittier, it sounds like Woodard never had a chance.
