Conservative Law Professor Who Sued School Busted For Drinking And Idling
Allegedly drinking and driving one block dogs a would-be law professor.
Personally, I think it would be more dangerous for Teresa Wagner to get drunk and file a lawsuit than it is for her to do what she’s charged with doing a couple of days ago.
Wagner has sued Iowa Law School for First and Fourteenth Amendment violations. We’ve talked about her because she argues that Iowa Law didn’t hire her as a faculty member because of her conservative views.
Iowa Law claims that she wasn’t hired because she wasn’t qualified.

Iowa City Police allege that she wasn’t very conservative when it came to drinking and then driving a few blocks from her home….
Look, I’ve been drinking from the same, conformist trough as all of you have. I dutifully believe that drunk driving is very, very bad, and that drunker drivers should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
And, I’ll also note that I have no love for conservative law professors.

But if all Wagner did is what she is accused of doing, I’ve got to think that ICPD has better things to do with its time:
According to an Iowa City police criminal complaint, an officer was called to 514 Garden St. at 10:25 p.m. for a suspicious vehicle call. The responding office found 48-year-old Teresa R. Wagner sitting inside a running Dodge Caravan…
Wagner allegedly told police that her husband had upset her, so she drove to Garden Street, which is less than a block from her home, so her children wouldn’t see her in the driveway. Police said Wagner admitted to drinking earlier in the night and being drunk.
Strict liability, bitches! I thought you conservatives loved stuff like that.
That was a joke. But seriously, it seems like arresting a woman in a minivan who drove a block and then idled the car is a bit much. It sounds like there is something more going on here:
Wagner failed field sobriety tests and provided a preliminary breath test that showed her blood-alcohol content was .127 percent, police said. The legal limit to operate a vehicle in Iowa is .08 percent.
Police said Wagner attempted to get back into her vehicle to drive home, but officers turned off her van. She was taken into custody and faces a charge of drunken driving.

Maybe she felt that the officers were persecuting her for her views on drinking?
Hopefully, everything works out for Wagner, and her husband.
