Lawyerly Lairs: An $8 Million, Full-Floor Flat

A partner at a major law firm just acquired a beautiful prewar apartment on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan.

I would have guessed the master bedroom, but it’s actually in the dining room:

If the dining room looks large, that’s because it is large. It’s about 20 feet by 20 feet, according to the floor plan:

The listing refers to four living spaces — the living room, music room, library, and dining room — as enjoying Central Park views. I’m guessing that what the floor plan refers to as a bedroom next to the library is now a music room, a conversion that makes perfect sense. This layout produces a nice separation between the public areas, at the front or Park-facing part of the apartment, and the bedrooms, in the rear.

Congratulations to Miles and Catherine Ruthberg on their beautiful new home. Maybe they can host a cocktail party for Latham & Watkins summer associates later this year — and help Latham appear two years in a row in our contest for swankiest summer associate events.
