Lawyerly Lairs: A Landlord/Tenant Lawyer's $30 Million Mansion

The scourge of New York City landlords is a lord himself -- with a $30 million castle.

The floor plan is a little hard to read (even after clicking to enlarge). But it’s not easy to reproduce a floor plan for 13,000 square feet, spread out over seven levels:

When discussing his work representing rent-controlled tenants shaking down getting “go away” money from landlords, David Rozenholc once quipped, “People think we’re ripping off the capitalists? The truth is, we’re not ripping them off enough.” It’s a bit rich to hear Rozenholc rail against capitalists, since capitalism seems to have been pretty good to him.

And don’t count on this capitalist getting ripped off as he seeks to sell his $30 million mansion. When it comes to the cutthroat world of Manhattan real estate, Rozenholc is, in the world of one developers’ consultant, “one of the toughest S.O.B.’s in the business.”
