How much did this Morrison & Foerster partner get for his gigantic pied-a-terre in a celebrity-infested building?

Meet Michael Graffagna, who’s one impressive MoFo… partner. The Harvard Law School graduate, admitted to practice in New York, California, and Japan, heads up the project finance practice at Morrison & Foerster.

Graffagna is now resident in the firm’s Tokyo office. So he and his wife, Midori Graffagna, recently sold their Manhattan pied-à-terre. And oh what a pied-à-terre it was — larger than most Manhattanites’ primary residences.

How large are we talking? How much did the Graffagnas get for it? And which celebrity lives upstairs?

Prominent record executive Todd Moscowitz — who has worked (and played) with such boldface names as Russell Simmons, Anna Wintour, and Sean Combs — purchased the Graffagnas’ former home, a two-bedroom condo at 345 West 13th Street, for the impressive price of $4.56 million (representing a profit for the Graffagnas of about $1 million; nice work). Here’s a report from the New York Observer:

At 2,400 square feet, the unit is hardly miniature. But in the context of the West Village, it constitutes a relatively modest and sensibly-priced rarity.

“There’s not a lot that is comparable,” said Prime Manhattan’s Robert Danker, who represented the sellers. “If you were to look today for what’s available in that neighborhood in a doorman building north of 2,000 square feet, you’d come up with maybe four or five condos.” In newer and more newly-renovated buildings like the Printing House and 150 Charles, Mr. Danker said, prices hover around $2,700 per square foot — $800 more than at Mr. Moscowitz’s new pad.

For under $2,000 a square foot, you can hear the cries of “Mom the meatloaf!” from a few floors up. As noted by Curbed, Will Ferrell bought a unit in the building in 2010 for $4.2 million, then renovated it.

Ferrell’s apartment has colorful decor (although I don’t see any leather-bound books or rich mahogany). The Graffagnas’ former home is much more understated. Shall we take a look?
