Caption Contest Winner: A Terrible, Terrible Typo

What did this law school do after realizing it made a profane typo in a mass email?

Earlier this week, we asked readers to submit possible captions for this picture of an egregious typo sent out by the admissions office of the St. Thomas University School of Law (click on the image to enlarge it):

Now that you’ve voted on the finalists, it’s time to announce the winner of our contest….

As is customary with our caption contests, we’ll now reveal the backstory behind the picture. On Monday morning, St. Thomas Law — the one in Miami Gardens, Florida, not to be confused with the one in Minneapolis, Minnesota — sent out this profanity-featuring email to potential applicants. Said the tipster who shared the email with us, “I am originally from South Florida, so I think they got my information from LSAC to solicit me to apply.”

Within an hour, the school sent everyone the following message:

When s**t happens, as it inevitably will, you need to pick it up and move on — which is exactly what St. Thomas Law did here. Congratulations, St. Thomas, on catching the mistake and apologizing promptly. And congratulations to the winner of our caption contest:

I couldn’t find the typo until I enlarged the image and could see that St. Thomas claims to be a School of Law.

Thanks to everyone for suggesting comments and for voting. If you wrote the winning caption, feel free to email us, subject line “Caption Contest Winner,” to claim your prize (an Above the Law t-shirt).
