BINGHAM MCCUTCHEN — MEMORANDUM — LEGAL SUPPORT

As you know, beginning Monday, February 10, we are transitioning to the new secretarial model discussed in recent local meetings. Below is a recap of the key points covered in the meetings as well as information about your new Legal Support Team.

New Roles: LAAs, LSTs and Workflow Coordinators

By offering a team-on-team approach to secretarial support, we are striving to provide better and more consistent coverage to our lawyers and paralegals. Each floor will have a group or groups of Legal Administrative Assistants (LAAs). These LAAs will work together as a Legal Support Team (LST) to provide support for all the lawyers and paralegals on the floor. In addition to their LST, partners will retain a primary relationship with one LAA. Individuals will be able to access the team by calling, emailing or walking up to any member of your LST for assistance. Each team will have a Workflow Coordinator who will be an active team member as well as oversee the work distribution within the team.

Shared Access to Key Information

The team will share access to one email box and one phone extension in addition to maintaining their individual emails and extensions. We will have a shared calendar for each team on Sharepoint that will allow all members of the team to access all upcoming deadlines, meetings and practice events.

Benefits of New Model

The benefit from this team approach is that the knowledge and experience base available to you is now larger and more diverse. Your work will be directed to the individual on the team most skilled for that particular project. You are welcome to continue relationships you may have with individual LAAs, but we encourage you to work with all the members of the team in order to broaden the team’s knowledge base and increase efficiency. As you know, our LAAs are highly skilled professionals. We are confident that they will work well within the team model, but it will be very important for you to clearly define your requests and communicate reasonable deadlines when possible. The members of your team will then determine the best way to meet your needs either within the team or by utilizing additional support systems at the Global Services Center in Lexington.

Next Steps

Your team’s workflow coordinator, [REDACTED] will be meeting with you over the next few days to discuss your personal preferences and to go over a menu of team services. In the meantime, here are details about your LST:
