Caption Contest Winner: Seriously, What The Hell Are These Lawyers Wearing?!

The men behind the legal team with a 1940s gangster style of dress are now revealed.

Last week, we asked readers to submit possible captions for this picture:

On Friday, you voted on the finalists, and now it’s time to announce the winner of our contest…

As is customary with our caption contests, we’ll now reveal the backstory behind the picture. Meet John Ray and Vesselin Mitev, the partners of Ray, Mitev and Associates, a litigation boutique in New York. They’re not just attorneys — they’re “architects at law, sculpting legal precedent as [they] help [their] clients navigate an ever-changing legal environment.” Here’s what one of our commenters had to say about the pair’s quirky sartorial decisions:

Their clothing is a mechanism by which they BRAND themselves and their law firm. I have crossed paths with both in court for years. They are both superb attorneys. Whether destroying a veteran a detective on cross examination or drafting a tome like brief or memo of law, their abilities are superior. Appearances can be deceiving, remember the Wizard of Oz. Underestimate them at your own peril.

Lesson learned: never mess with a man in a fedora. Here’s the winner of our latest caption contest:

An alleged male prostitute (left) was acquitted today after being represented by his pimp in court.
