Law Revue Video Contest 2014: Honorable Mentions

Although they didn't make the finals, these videos were worth watching.

Let this post serve as a reminder to vote for your favorites in our annual Law Revue Video Contest. Voting closes Sunday night, and as of the writing of this post, the law schools in first and second place are separated by only 326 votes. It’s a very close race, so if you want your favorite to win, vote now.

In the meantime, before we crown the winner, let’s take a look at some of the law revue videos that didn’t make our cut for finalists, but were still interesting enough to be seen by the ATL audience (and not for purposes of mockery).

Videos are listed in alphabetical order by school. We generally pick just one finalist per school (to prevent vote splitting), and you’ll see why that mattered in a minute. Did yours make the cut this time around?

1. George Washington University Law School — Justice Roboto

We all thought this one was good, and especially appreciated the riff on the Styx song. I must admit, though, that we really, really, really miss the guy from the Palsgraf video. He should never have graduated.

2. NYU Law School — Bluebooker

When it comes to law revue, this school does it right every year. The girl singing the chorus is awesome, the rapping is decent, and there’s lots of T&A. I was probably the only one from the ATL gang who noticed the spoof of Kanye West’s “Bound 2” video, but I’m obsessed with pop culture. This was a great watch.

3. Southern Methodist University School of Law — Law Review

This one is very cute and very likeable, just like Taylor Swift, and really captured the spirit of the original video. WorldCat problems? Quick, call the “this would never happen at SMU” guy. Nice work!

4. Washington University in St. Louis Law School — Law School Cribs

This is a real vintage throwback to the era when MTV sometimes showed music videos and things relating to celebrities instead of reality shows 24 hours a day. The sad part is that I think most incoming 1Ls are probably too young to have any idea what MTV Cribs even is. Good job, but thanks for making me feel old.

Thanks again to everybody who submitted a video. And don’t forget to vote in the finals!

P.S. Thanks to the kids at UT Law who decided to ice me via delivery service. Raspberry is my favorite!
