Madonna Got Out Of Jury Duty -- Because She's Madonna
Madonna bails out on jury duty and leaves her fans in the dust to serve their civic duty with hangovers.
Madonna was supposed to do her civic duty as an American (or is she British these days?) and report for jury duty yesterday. Unfortunately, after galavanting on horses and prancing on beaches all Memorial Day weekend, she mysteriously fell ill.
Madonna took a “Holiday” from jury duty, if you will, and now the commoners are pissed…

Madonna’s spokeswoman said that the star’s jury duty stint was “being rescheduled,” but the rest of her fans who were left behind and had to serve in the jury pool weren’t so lucky. Here’s what they had to say:
“I’m a freelancer and I don’t get paid if I don’t go to work,” groaned makeup artist Danielle Alexandra, 36. Madonna “should have to come. It’s absolutely not fair. Why should a celebrity get out of a duty that we have? If anything, people who have hardships should get out of it, not people with more money.”
Manny Vidal, 21, of Washington Heights, said, “Madonna shouldn’t get to miss it just because she’s her. It’s your responsibility as a citizen.”
If it’s any consolation, Madonna knows how to say “Sorry” in quite a few different languages.
