Qui Tam: Big Book

Are there other ways to get rich in Biglaw aside from having a big book of business?

Every firm has its big book partners.  And the size of the book doesn’t always correlate in an obvious way to the skills of the lawyer, or even to relationships.  There are other ways to get rich…

A Secret to Zealous Representation

Big C we called him, to his face,
Ten million book, rich and complacent,
And ample girth to match.
Engorged by the toils of junior lawyers,
Churning away for this client or that,
Delaying and confusing.
I know his secret.  White privilege (of course),
And old boys (goes without saying), but
More than these it’s greed.
Greed helps you bend, lets you ignore that whisper
Telling you you’re not just preserving wealth,
You’re shielding corruption.
But what do I know.  That is the way the world turns,
And guess what, I hear he’s running for Congress.
