Lawyer Arrives Late To His Own Contempt Hearing, You Won't Believe What Happens Next

If you like to practice law, you probably shouldn't do something like this to a judge.

Surely you didn’t start without me.

Christopher G. Nicholson, an attorney in Augusta, Georgia, in an attempt to admonish Judge Daniel J. Craig for beginning Nicholson’s contempt hearing without him there. Nicholson had arrived 15 minutes late to the hearing. The contempt hearing was ultimately recessed so that Nicholson could be admitted to an inpatient facility for observation.

Nicholson earned his contempt citation when he allegedly yelled at another judge during a court hearing, reportedly telling the judge that he had “ruined the practice of law” in the city. Last week, Nicholson’s license to practice law was suspended for failing to respond to a bar investigation.
