NFL Player Pretends To Live-Tweet His Attempts To Get Kicked Off Jury Duty

This football player sure dedicated a lot of time to what turned out to be an elaborate hoax.

Darnell Dockett, a defensive end for the Arizona Cardinals on the injured reserve list, in a string of “live-tweets” from his supposed stint on jury duty yesterday. Dockett claimed to have been tweeting about the justice system in an attempt to be dismissed from performing his civic duty.

Dockett lives in Arizona during football season, but according to a Maricopa County Superior Court spokesperson, Dockett did not have a jury duty assignment yesterday. He also tweeted a picture he claimed to have taken in a courtroom yesterday, but it was actually taken from a 2013 news article.

(Deadspin has a great summary of all of the Dockett’s “live-tweets.”)
