The ongoing, often fractious conversation about the state of legal education has degenerated into a blame game. Bar passage rates have plummeted in many states, and scores on the multiple choice section of July state bar exams were at historically low levels.

Was this crop of law students not prepared, or could this reveal a flaw in the scoring or administration of the exam? (Above and beyond the Examsoft debacle.) To no one’s surprise, law school deans blame a flawed exam, while The National Conference of Bar Examiners cite a great Endumbening of the law student population.
