Stats Of The Week: Biglaw Tax Lawyers Are Killing It

Some recent survey findings on American perceptions of the tax system.

Spring is here and so is tax season. Americans view our tax system as deeply flawed, with 59% saying “there is so much wrong with the federal tax system that Congress should completely change it,” according to recent data from the Pew Research Center. When taxpayers are asked what specifically bothers them most about the tax system, their responses might lead one to conclude that the public feels Biglaw firms and corporate tax attorneys are great at their jobs. (Well, maybe not in so many words…)

Americans’ top complaint about the tax system is not that they pay too much. It’s all about fairness:

Eighty two percent of Americans say they are bothered by the feeling that corporations do not pay their fair share of taxes and 79% say the same regarding rich people. Plus the whole system is too complicated to understand. One can hardly imagine a more ringing endorsement of the sheer effectiveness of the valiant work performed by the nation’s top-tier tax lawyers.
