February New York Bar Exam Results Down From Last Year

The results from New York’s February bar exam are in and the percentage of passing students is slightly lower that it was one year ago.

The total pass rate for all candidates taking the exam – including first-timers and repeaters—was 43 percent, down from 47 percent.

  • Of 1st time takers who graduated from New York law schools, 68 percent passed, a decline of about 1 percent.
  • 1st time takers from out-of-state schools had a 71 percent pass rate, down 5 percentage points.
  • The pass rate for all 1st time test-takers who graduated from American Bar Association-accredited schools fell from 74 percent last year to 70 percent.
