Biglaw Partner Arrested

A Biglaw partner on the wrong side of the law.

Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft partner Robert L. Ughetta was arrested earlier this week by Mecklenburg County police officers on charges of disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer.

Ughetta is a partner in Cadwalader’s Capital Markets group in residence in both the New York and Charlotte offices (hence the Mecklenburg County arrest). According to Cadwalader’s website, he “concentrates his practice in the areas of asset securitization, structured finance, derivative products, fund formation, secured lending and other types of innovative financing.” He is a graduate of Princeton University and got his J.D. from Albany Law School. He maintains a personal website, which includes a fun gallery of pictures documenting his athletic endeavors, including swimming with dolphins.

This is not Ughetta’s first brush with the wrong side of the law. In 2012, he was arrested for assault on a female — non-aggravated physical force, and he was arrested again in 2014 for felony possession of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Cadwalader declined to comment for this story. We reached out to Ughetta for comment and did not immediately hear back.
