Stat Of The Week: Only 50% Of White Attorneys In Firms Are Partners
The findings of the Law360 Minority Report will amaze you (if you don't know anything).
To nobody’s surprise, the 2015 Law360 Minority Report revealed that minority attorneys continue to be underrepresented at all levels at U.S. law firms. Joe discussed the report here this morning, but one of its findings is worth repeating and is our Stat of the Week.
Of course it is usually a horrible idea to presume anything about someone’s position or status based on race — ask Elie about the time a Biglaw partner mistook him for the mailroom guy. But within law firms, go ahead: you have a 50/50 chance of being right that that white person is a partner. According to the Law360 data, there is essentially a 1:1 ratio among white attorneys between partners and non-partners:
