John Oliver is fast becoming America’s cure for a case of the Mondays… well, maybe not in South Carolina. This week, fresh off the racist shooting perpetrated by Dylann Roof in a South Carolina church, Oliver tackles the South Carolina’s commitment to anachronism in flying the Confederate Flag at the capitol building. Because, you know, it’s racist.

I believe the first time the Confederate flag was used in a racist way was the exact second they finished sewing the very first one. It was around that time.

After the Charleston shooting, the American flag flew at half-mast at the South Carolina capitol while the Confederate flag was unbowed.
