This Law School Really, Really, Really, REALLY Wants You To Apply -- Really!

This is what it looks like when a law school has to get down on its knees and beg say "pretty please."

It really says something about the state of legal education when law schools have taken to spamming potential applicants’ email accounts with the same message, repeatedly, for days on end, in an attempt to get them to apply. It’s pretty sad.

It seems the University of Akron School of Law has been sending the same recruitment email at 4:44 a.m. to one poor soul’s inbox, every day since June 3, 2015.

This is what it looks like when a law school has to beg say “pretty please”:

This is conduct unbecoming of an Above the Law Top 50 law school, so cut it out.

UPDATE (6/24/15): Today, we received this statement from Barbara C. Weinzierl, Assistant Dean for Admissions and Strategic Initiatives at Akron Law:

It has come to our attention that Above the Law recently published a blurb about a student who received “Apply Now” e-mails from Akron Law every morning since June 3. We just wanted to let you know that as soon as we were made aware that this was happening, we dug into the issue and discovered that these e-mails were being sent in error due to a system problem. We were completely unaware of these automated messages. We have since corrected the problem and we apologize for any inconvenience that this may have caused to the student(s) that received all those messages from us.

We wanted to provide you with accurate information so that the article can be corrected accordingly. Contrary to the text, we do not find ourselves in a position in which we are begging for applications. Fortunately, not only have our applications increased this year, but we anticipate enrolling a significantly larger class without sacrificing our admission standards. Our affordable cost for both resident and non-residents of Ohio, programs, high employment placement rate, strong bar passage rate, and other objective criteria have resulted in these increases. Also, we are no longer actively soliciting applications for our fall 2015 entering class.
