Problematic Biglaw Partner No Longer In Biglaw

Who can forget a mugshot like that?

Remember this guy? Who can forget a mugshot like that? Robert Ughetta is was a partner in Cadwalader’s Capital Markets group in residence in both the New York and Charlotte offices when Above the Law broke the news of his third arrest in three years, most recently for disorderly conduct and resisting a public officer.

Well, now (almost exactly two months from when the story first broke) Am Law Daily is reporting that Ughetta and Cadwalader have gone the way of Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin and “consciously uncoupled”:

An automatic reply to an email sent to Ughetta’s Cadwalader account stated that he was no longer with the firm and directed “business-related matters” to Robert Verga, the firm’s compliance manager. Verga was out of the office Monday and did not return a request for comment.

Dun, dun, dun. Nothing like a passive-aggressive auto-reply email for communicating info in Biglaw.

The parties haven’t made any statements on the split, and unlike the Kourtney Kardashian / Scott Disick breakup there aren’t fame-hungry hangers-on to spill juicy details. Am Law has the tight lipped declension to comment:

A spokeswoman for Cadwalader declined to comment on Ughetta’s departure, and it remains unclear exactly when the two sides officially parted ways. Ughetta’s biography page on Cadwalader’s website was removed within the past week.

It’s unclear what lies ahead for Ughetta — his personal blog has not been updated with his change in employment status — at least professionally. He has a court date on September 23 for charges from his May arrest.
