Earlier this week, we asked readers to submit possible captions for this picture:

You voted on the finalists, and now it’s time to announce the winner of our contest.

As is customary with our caption contests, we’ll now reveal the backstory behind the picture. This photo was taken on the D.C. Metro. Per our tipster, “This young woman was escorting a Blue Book on an Orange Line train; not sure where she was heading, but they seemed to be having a pleasant trip together.” Ah, to be a young gunner in love.
