GOP Hopeful Compares Marriage Equality To Slavery, Takes On 'Rogue' Supreme Court

Even GOP candidates at the "kids' table" debate came out swinging.

It [same sex marriage] is not [settled law] any more than Dred Scott was settled law to Abraham Lincoln, who, in his first inaugural address, said “it won’t stand.” And they went ahead and passed laws in direct contravention to a rogue Supreme Court.

This is a rogue Supreme Court decision, just like Justice Roberts said. There is no constitutional basis for the Supreme Court’s decision, and I know something about this.

— Rick Santorum during the Republican undercard or “kids’ table” debate for GOP hopefuls that finished out of the Fox News top 10 and thus relegated to the junior varsity showing four hours earlier. Despite the earlier time — and the nearly empty audience — Santorum threw some red meat to the base (and made folks following along with the ATL GOP debate drinking game finish their drink) by making a heavy-handed and woefully inaccurate comparison. Guess Santorum felt he had to swing for the fences as most of the country was at work, or at least commuting home, while he was busy fighting for his political life.
