What was the longest-running congressional investigation?

Hint: Hillary Clinton is testifying in front of the congressional committee investigating Benghazi, again. Last month she, or more accurately her campaign, tweeted out her frustration with the ongoing investigation, noting the Benghazi investigation was “the longest-running congressional investigation ever” as it has been active 17+ months. Except it isn’t the longest-running congressional investigation, not by a long shot.

Answer: The Senate Special Committee to Investigate the National Defense Program, which looked into the awarding of defense contracts during WWII, lasted 90 months. Check out Politifact for other investigations that lasted way longer than the Benghazi investigation.
