Kentucky Governor Is Having None Of Kim Davis's Shenanigans

To say the governor disagrees with Kim Davis is putting it mildly.

At issue here are marriage licenses issued by the Office of Rowan County Clerk and not Kim Davis individually, as Kim Davis individually has no authority to issue such licenses. The Office of Rowan County Clerk does not have a right to free exercise of religion.

— Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear’s response, filed by his attorneys, to the lawsuit filed by Kim Davis which claimed that her First Amendment rights were infringed upon by being asked to do her job. At various points, Beshear’s filing referred to the case and Kim Davis herself as “absurd,” “forlorn,” and “obtuse.”
