Make $50/Hr Helping This Kid Get Into Middling Law Schools!

If you need help getting into these schools, maybe law school just isn't your thing.

Consulting services for law school applicants have never made a ton of sense to me. Your transcript and LSAT more or less speak for themselves, and if you’re incapable of writing your own personal statement or utterly failed to garner the esteem of an influential professor, then you shouldn’t be going to law school anyway. But some students want that extra edge that takes them from attending a fine law school to a ticket on the T14 express.

But how much is it really worth to get into a middling law school? One kid on Craigslist is offering $50/hour:

Um… “cunny” is the typo of the week.

Both CUNY and NYLS fall below the top 100 in the U.S. News rankings, and while CUNY is eminently affordable, NYLS still charges tuition comparable to the big dogs (but NYLS has a much more robust part-time program, which is a selling point to this prospective student). Not to knock either school, both of which are more than capable of turning out solid attorneys, but if a prospective student views either school as a “reach” then it’s time to reconsider that career.

These are two schools with a median LSAT hovering in the low 150s. If this student is worried about getting into CUNY or NYLS, save the $50 consulting fee and put it toward an LSAT prep course to boost that score. That is if he or she is still convinced that law school is the right answer, which as we explained, shouldn’t be a given.

So that’s my advice. Feel free to send that $50 check to our offices.
