Who Are The Most Influential Legal Tech Writers?

How is technology going to influence the next ten years (and beyond) of legal practice?

It’s the most listicle time of the year, so listen up ATL readers because I need your help.

Recently, I’ve been putting together my own independent list of the most influential legal tech writers. Why is such a list important you ask (other than, of course, to put myself at the top)? Because, while legal tech is still a baby industry, paling in comparison to the likes of fintech, medtech and myriads of other techs, and (as I will explain in a column later this week) there is real reason for lawyers to be excited about legal tech and know more about what kind of technology is adding value for lawyers. And, the best way to learn more is to find people, writers, entrepreneurs, lawyers and investors who are writing about the industry.

The problem with creating independent listicles of these sort is that it usually boils down to who you know. And, yes, I know some great people writing, blogging and tweeting about legal tech. But I don’t know everyone, and that’s why I need your help.

Over the next two weeks, I will be checking my email to find out which legal tech writers you think should make my list. Think you’ve got someone who I should know about? Email me, tweet to me or, for you Disqus vultures, leave a comment.

Here are the rules:

1.  The nominee needs to write, blog, YouTube, podcast or tweet (sorry Snapchat, you didn’t make the cut) about legal tech — and the quality of their content needs to be good. Company blogs – I happen to really like Everlaw’s blog – are welcome to apply.

2. Legal tech is loosely defined. Kevin O’Keefe, who writes about why it’s important for lawyers to blog, would certainly count on my list because blogging + social = technology.

3. You can and should submit yourself, but if you do, you also have to submit the name of one other person who you would nominate as well. If your nominee is good, I’m more likely to include you on my list.

That’s it. I’m hoping to put more lists like this together so we can all get to know the industry a little better and understand how technology is going to influence the next ten years (and beyond) of legal practice.
