Florida Coastal Law Grad Looks For Love On 'The Bachelor'
Who is this year's lawyer looking for love on "The Bachelor," and what are her credentials?

Perhaps you aren’t a fan of ABC’s The Bachelor or perhaps it’s one of your guiltiest pleasures. If you haven’t watched the show, we’ll do you a favor and dumb it down for you. It’s a show where lonesome men who’ve been deemed eligible bachelors come to find their true reality TV loves out of a group of 25 (or sometimes more) contestants. Almost every year, one of the female contestants vying for The Bachelor’s heart is a lawyer, and this year is no different.
For example, back in 2014, one of the contestants on The Bachelor, Andi Dorfman, was an assistant district attorney who took leave from her job to appear on the show, and later left because she couldn’t stand the man she was supposed to be wooing. Dorfman then resigned from her position as an ADA to appear in a starring role on The Bachelorette, where she used “what she learned in law school” to find romance. Unfortunately, that wasn’t very helpful, as the only things Dorfman left the show with were $50,000 for her participation and a failed engagement.

Say hello to Samantha Passmore, a 2015 graduate of Florida Coastal School of Law. In her bio on The Bachelor website, she lists “[g]raduating Law School in the top 20% of my class” as her greatest achievement to date. Passmore’s LinkedIn page reveals that a 3.16 GPA is all it takes to land students at the top of the class at this for-profit InfiLaw school.
As a writer at online women’s magazine Bustle who likely isn’t well-versed in law school rankings notes, “If that isn’t impressive, I don’t know what is.” … neither do we.

When Passmore makes her entrance in a stunning(ly see-through) red lace gown, she makes an important announcement (“On the way here, I found out I passed the bar exam.” With a surname like “Passmore,” it would’ve been terribly awkward if she’d failed.), followed by an even more important question for Ben Higgins, The Bachelor: “I have one question for you: boxers or legal briefs?” Wow, way to make an impact!
That was apparently enough to earn Passmore a rose, but how long will she be able to remain on the show? How long will the personal injury firm where she’s newly employed allow her to take leave from work? Only time will tell, but at least Florida Coastal Law will be able to mark her down as employed in a full-time, long-term position where bar passage is required within 10 months of graduation, and that’s really all that matters.
