Latest Trend In Attorney Advertising: Adorkableness

This attorney comes across as a decidedly earnest and heartfelt good guy rather than an a**hole lawyer.

adorkableThe world of attorney advertising is a tough business — it seems you need outrageous gimmicks, explosions, or naked sex appeal to capture anyone’s attention. But one small-firm attorney has taken a turn for the adorkable, and no, they didn’t hire Zooey Deschanel to shill their legal services.

Meet Texas lawyer John Kim. He has a sweet cartoon that introduces his practice and mad lawyering skillz. He touts himself as the “Asian Columbo,” “smart like a fox” and “really, really, really good” — and because these boasts are accompanied by deliberately imperfect animation, he comes across as a decidedly earnest and heartfelt good guy rather than an a**hole lawyer.

Then at the :40 mark he takes a swing at Biglaw. Screw an Ivy League education and relevant terminology when you can hire yourself the unfrozen caveman lawyer, able to speak to juries in the simplest of terms:

There is now a sequel to John Kim’s original ad — this one is aimed at nabbing some corporate work. See, smart general counsels can depend on John to get the job done — as long as they are clever enough to see beyond his small firm. And then, oh boy, is he able to work his “magic”:

Maybe someone will throw a John Kim children’s party — I can already envision the twee decorations.
