Lawyer Shot, Killed By Police After Attacking Family With Knife
He's said to have viciously attacked his family members with a knife and beat them with a baseball bat.
Earlier this week, a New York lawyer was shot and killed by police after viciously attacking his family members with a knife and beating them with a baseball bat. Christopher Andrews, a resident of Fairfield, Connecticut, was fatally wounded following a confrontation with police in his front yard. The Hartford Courant has more information on the tragic events that occurred:
Lt. Jim Perez said police responded to a 911 call from a female who requested help and arrived at the white, ranch-style house to find Andrews on the front lawn with a weapon in his hands and his 15-year-old son holding a baseball bat.
Perez said Andrews did not comply with officers’ orders to drop the weapon — which police did not identify — and was advancing toward them when he was shot. The 15-year-old complied with police and told them he had wrestled the baseball bat away from his father, who was using it to beat his family, according to police.

The shooting happened at around 6 a.m. on Tuesday. Andrews’s wife, Kathleen, had stab wounds and blunt force trauma to her head. She’s currently hospitalized and in critical condition, along with his youngest child, a 12-year-old boy. Andrews’s other children, a 13-year-old girl and the 15-year-old boy mentioned above, had stabbing and slicing wounds. “It’s awful, just awful,” a neighbor said.
Andrews was a lawyer at a small firm in Manhattan, Andrews & Andrews, and had practiced law for more than 20 years, handling personal injury and estate matters.
This is terribly sad. We here at Above the Law would like to extend our condolences and sympathies to the Andrews family and to their friends and colleagues.
