One of the biggest hassles for any lawyer, big firm or small, is dealing with their billable hours. Time clocks have been a game changer for lawyers, but with everything else you are doing at your firm, especially if you are a solo, having to manually record your time can become a hassle. Either you become OCD about your billables or, worse, you guesstimate. Practice management software Smokeball Ai  solves that problem with an artificial intelligence — they call it Activity Intelligence — that tracks your activity and records your time with zero action your part. There a bunch of other bells and whistles, but the use of artificial intelligence is the key differentiator.

You might recall Smokeball Ai from my conversation last week with in-house counsel and blogger Mary Redzic, whose product views I really respect, who simply gushed over Smokeball Ai. Smokeball Ai scored the first perfect score on her review system and it has earned praise from others in the legal tech blogosphere as well. If you recall, late last year, I predicted that artificial intelligence would be one of the big legal tech trends in 2016, so it’s nice to see that prediction playing out (pats himself on the back). So, this week on ATL, I’m hosting Chelsey Lambert, VP of marketing and communications at Smokeball, to talk about her company’s story, how the technology works, and how artificial intelligence is changing the legal industry.
