Chicago-Based Biglaw Firm Ponies Up The $$$
The salary wars that started in New York have spurred this firm into action.
Well, well, well. Looks like the moniker “NY to 180” really will have to be changed to “Biglaw to 180.” Chicago-based Biglaw powerhouse Mayer Brown has moved to the Cravath compensation scale for all U.S. offices.
Though it is still headquartered in Chi-town, and that remains the firm’s largest office, it isn’t a slouch in New York. The Big Apple outpost boasts more than 200 lawyers, and it looks like the salary wars that started in New York have spurred this firm into action.
As per the firm’s memo, the raises apply to summer associates and the class of 2016, and they are effective July 1 — all of which are aligned with market trends.
